Sabbath Film Outreach a Success

On November 2, about 100 people gathered at the Community Library in Ketchum to watch the two-hour documentary titled Sabbath: Ancient Practice Meets Modern World by Journey Films. Afterwards, those who wanted to discuss the highlights or share thoughts raised by the film formed three small groups.

Attendees appreciated the scope of Sabbath-keeping practices included in the film, and many viewed the idea of a weekly “time out” to focus on the significant relationships and elements in life as an essential concept. Some yearned for additional events to further explore ideas shared in the documentary.

We will discuss potential follow-up events with the co-sponsoring group for the event: The Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Light on the Mountains Center for Spiritual Living, Sun Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, and Wood River Jewish Community.

This consortium has also adopted the name Wood River Interfaith Council (WRIC) to represent its collective activities in the Wood River Valley. WRIC is engaged with supporting the homeless individuals and families with shelter, food, clothing, and other resources. We have also assisted with tasks at the Youth Center in Richfield to improve the facility’s appearance and functionality.
